InTheStorm_SMIn the Storm exhorts us that in the storm our faith should remain unwavering. Not just willing to stand and not be moved, but to take His hand and step out of the boat into the waves trusting Him to be steadfast.

“And suddenly a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; but Jesus was sleeping. And the disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us, we are going to die!” He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was [at once] a great and wonderful calm [a perfect peacefulness].” Matthew 8:24-26 (AMP)

“Peter replied to Him, “Lord, if it is [really] You, command me to come to You on the water.” He said, “Come!” So Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw [the effects of] the wind, he was frightened, and he began to sink, and he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus extended His hand and caught him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.” Matthew 14:28-32 (AMP)

When Jesus admonishes Peter by saying “Oh you of little faith” that actually means “short bursts of faith”. It took great faith for Peter to get out of the boat but his faith was fleeting, so he began to sink. God is calling you to a sustained faith, a faith that goes the distance, a faith that will keep you on top of the waves and oblivious of the storm. The sustained faith that is required of you is not about effort but about focus. Fix your gaze upon Jesus without wavering. No matter how big or loud the storm gets, stay focused on His face and His outstretched hand. You have inside of you all that is required to do what God has called you to do.
