Heir of Promise

Heir of Promise embodies the light and life we feel as we stand fast in the warmth of His love, covered in the protection of His promises, knowing He is fully faithful.

  • 2 Timothy 2:13 (TPT) But even if we are faithless, he will still be full of faith, for he never wavers in his faithfulness to us!
  • Psalm 37:3 (TPT) Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in his eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God and you will be secure, feasting on his faithfulness.
  • Matthew 3:16-17 (NKJV) When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

A Meditation of the Word by Elisa Eaton of Waiting in the Wings is connected to this piece. It is called “The Secret of Divine Timing”.

Hebrew 11:11 (NKJV) By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.

God confirmed His covenant with Abraham eight times before actually fulfilling the promises of that covenant. The birth of Isaac finally came when Abraham was 100-years-old and Sarah was 90-years-old. But why so long? What was the point in all of that waiting?

When God first promised to make Abraham into a great nation, that promise actually could have been interpreted in a few different ways. When we read it we already know the fullness of the promise, so we may miss this fact. But Abraham didn’t know how God was going to make him into a great nation. It was completely plausible that it would happen through his nephew, Lot, his son, Ishmael, or his servant, Eliezer. However, that wasn’t what the plan looked like in God’s mind. It seems that God waited until Abraham and Sarah were completely ready to catch and embrace the vision. There was a spiritual and physical legacy that God desired to build through these two people. If they could not perceive it, how could they come to believe and receive it?

When we are used to simply trusting and obeying God, sometimes we may not realize that the fulfillment of our promises requires a change in our relationship with Him and a change in ourselves. He desires to take us deeper into intimacy where we partner with Him in His purposes. Therefore, in His grace and mercy, He will draw us to where we need to be in our relationship with Him. Along the way, He will remind, rehearse, and reaffirm His Word over us until we see as He sees. This process changes us—we die to ourselves and to the designs of the human heart to instead embrace a grander, higher design. When we do finally see and when we do not have any hesitation about what He wants to do in and through us, it is then and only then that we can fully receive His promises.

A Word to Ponder by Sandy Warner of the Quickened Word is connected to this. It is called “Egg-spec-tations“.

I am forming precious new giftings inside the wombs of those who have waited upon Me for their promises of new joys. Hover over your egg-spectations and keep them warm. Do not leave the nest unguarded. The hope you have in your heart for a new life, role and function is incubating right now. What you expect will look differently when it is made manifest, but you will be given glimpses of it as it secretly grows through its pre-determined stages. Let nothing come through strife or vainglory, let it be birthed naturally. Lay your expectations down as to how all unfolds, but let your egg-spectations be filled with faith, hope and love. Love will never fail you dear one, never.

Romans 8:19-20 (NKJV) For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

Do not doubt the blessings you have sown in His strength, His name. While your seasons of brokenness and tears may seek to minimize your seeds, He has not forgotten the weight and importance of your faithfulness. This world has tried to break you in ways that would shatter the faith and wellbeing of many, but not you. It has taken away your sense of self at times, yet you still scattered seeds of kindness and hope. It is in your DNA to love, even as the world has convinced you that it is insignificant and will not amount to much. The Father wants to remind you that those seeds are precious and foundational to the structure of His kingdom. Life changing seeds! In return for your faithfulness and bravery in the face of utter despair, He wants you to know that how much you mean to Him is immeasurable and your seeds are priceless! You matter to Him. Your value is so much greater than those who gain fame, fortune, and recognition in His name. You are His precious child and get ready because blessings are unfolding! He wants to bring you to a place of greater authority in your gifts, meet your needs in ways that bless many, and bring a deeper, unconditional love into your life. His promises are breaking wide open into showers of blessing over you!

A Prophetic Nugget from our Dyed4you Ministries blog is connected to this. It is called “See All My Blessings.”

Psalm 39:7 (AMP) And now, Lord, for what do I expectantly wait? My hope [my confident expectation] is in You.

Beloved, rest assured your wait is not in vain. Though it may seem the vision tarries, it tarries not. The blessing, your promised harvest, is right on time. Await it with confident expectation. Rejoice even in this part of the journey because a multitude of blessings are found along the way.

Refuse to become focused simply on destination points and enjoy the whole journey along with the growth and wisdom it brings. See all My blessings, not just the ones that fit your expectation of good. Wisdom and experience are blessings too. Walk with Me, beloved, and allow My perspective to shape your view.

A Word to Ponder by Sandy Warner of the Quickened Word is connected to this. It is called “Suddenly“.

A season of “suddenlys.” Long you have waited for this fulfillment. Now you are confirmed. I have promised it, I am doing it. Suddenly, all at once, what was not, is.

Have hope! Years of prayers are not lost. Why so long? Because the battle was greater than yourself. Great warfare has taken place in the heavenlies and worldwide strongholds have been broken. Your portion is coming. Give Me time to set things in order. Be prepared. Even now the prey is being divided and sent on its way.

Flood waters covered the land, but now they are receding. With each new day, new land is emerging. Inheritance free and waiting to be occupied. Yes. Go for it.

“…So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order. And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.” (2 Chronicles 29:35-36)

The lyrics from Bethel’s song “You Make Me Brave” are connected to this.

I stand before You now | The greatness of your renown | I have heard of the majesty and wonder of you | King of Heaven, in humility, I bow

As Your love, in wave after wave | Crashes over me, crashes over me | For You are for us | You are not against us | Champion of Heaven | You made a way for all to enter in

I have heard You calling my name | I have heard the song of love that You sing | So I will let You draw me out beyond the shore | Into Your grace | Your grace

As Your love, in wave after wave | Crashes over me, crashes over me | For You are for us | You are not against us | Champion of Heaven | You made a way for all to enter | To Your love, in wave after wave | Crashes over me, crashes over me | For You are for us | You are not against us | Champion of Heaven | You made a way for all to enter in

Cause You make me brave | You make me brave | You call me out beyond the shore into the waves | You make me brave| You make me brave | No fear can hinder now the love that made a way

You make me brave | You make me brave | You call me out beyond the shore into the waves | Cause You make me brave | You make me brave | No fear can hinder now the promises you made

Because Your love, in wave after wave | Crashes over me, crashes over me | For You are for us | You are not against us | Champion of Heaven | You made a way | Because Your love, in wave after wave | Crashes over me, crashes over me | For You are for us | You are not against us | Champion of Heaven | You made a way | Champion of Heaven | You made a way for all to enter in

The initial working title for this piece was Promised Harvest, but the name wasn’t settling because He was giving us a sense of a perpetual state of being rather than simply a future point in time that was assured to come (although that is a truth as well, but it comes in the context of this place of continual being). He gave the word “open” in the sense of staying in that place of receiving – allowing His Holy Spirit to move in and through you (thus the dove in the image). And as we pressed into this open, perpetual state of being, we could feel the warmth of His love, the glow of His blessings, and the kiss of the wind of His Spirit. Truly, you are loved by the Faithful One, an Heir of Promise.

A message from Graham Cooke called “Heirs of Promise” is connected to this (this is a portion of the transcript).

His intention is to produce children of promise. You know the very least – the very smallest part – of your relationship means that you get to stand before God as a much-loved child. That’s the minimum requirement. That you know that you are a much-loved child.

…he wants us not only to become sons and children, but heirs of promise. An heir is someone who has their inheritance and is going yippee in their life. Who lives their life according to the inheritance that they possess. There is a point when you’re supposed to get hold of something and use it. So when God wants you to have your inheritance – when he wants to talk to you about your inheritance – it’s because he wants you to have something of substance in your life that you can use in your life. Now. Today.

We are a church moving away from just the baby end of faith, which is getting your needs met. We are moving into a place of sonship. We’re learning how to live as much loved children. I am totally beloved of my father to a point where we are saying I am one of the sons of God. Because I have that right. We’re all children of God learning how to become sons of God. And those who are led by the Spirit – who have an ongoing relationship with the Holy Spirit – that’s based on the sensitivity to who he is and who he wants to be for us, those people who are led by that Spirit, they are learning to become sons of God.
