The Dance represents the interaction and relationship in a marriage. The flow, the movement, the beauty, the unity, and the passion.

“Wives, understand and support your husbands in ways that show your support for Christ. The husband provides leadership to his wife the way Christ does to his church, not by domineering but by cherishing. So just as the church submits to Christ as he exercises such leadership, wives should likewise submit to their husbands.” Ephesians 5:22-24 (MSG)

“Husbands, love your wives [with an affectionate, sympathetic, selfless love that always seeks the best for them] and do not be embittered or resentful toward them [because of the responsibilities of marriage].” Colossians 3:19 (AMP)

When you watch two people dance – a man and his bride – there is a certain intimacy… a oneness, an alignment, a trust, a stepping together. The husband gently leading with smooth, loving steps keeping in flawless rhythm – precise synchronization and perfect partnership. The wife confident her beloved’s leadership, not resisting or breaking the flow, but rather relaxing into full trust and enjoying the dance. As is with certain dances, the passion is evident. In the same way, the passion and deep feelings should be evident and beautiful in their fiery presence or the slow burn of decades of devotion.

The dance is representative not just of how a husband and wife move together, but of your walk with the Father. As we move in that same intimacy with the Lord, He pours forth His abundance; moving in time, His hand lays gently in the small of your back giving you subtle cues: move here, speak this, pray that – and you respond in faith, aligning with His flow and His great love for you.

Choosing to love each other and move this way together is so pleasing to the Father. In honoring each other, you are honoring Him. Out of this honor will flow great blessing on each of you, your marriage, family, and community.

Father, continue to strengthen and bless the marriage dance. Let Your favor and blessing be evident on the marriage that has chosen to include You and Your ways.
