Rivers of Living Water

Rivers of Living Water reminds us of the origin of the flow that sustains our lives and that we in turn pour forth.

• John 4:10 (VOICE) Jesus: You don’t know the gift of God or who is asking you for a drink of this water from Jacob’s well. Because if you did, you would have asked Him for something greater; and He would have given you the living water.
• John 4:13-15 (VOICE) Jesus: Drink this water, and your thirst is quenched only for a moment. You must return to this well again and again. I offer water that will become a wellspring within you that gives life throughout eternity. You will never be thirsty again. Woman:  Please, Sir, give me some of this water, so I’ll never be thirsty and never again have to make the trip to this well.
• John 7:37-39 (TPT) Then on the most important day of the feast, the last day, Jesus stood and shouted out to the crowds— “All you thirsty ones, come to me! Come to me and drink! Believe in me so that rivers of living water will burst out from within you, flowing  from your innermost being, just like the Scripture says!” Jesus was prophesying about the Holy Spirit that believers were being prepared to receive. But the Holy Spirit had not yet been poured out upon them, because Jesus had not yet been unveiled in his full splendor.

Come alive! Just as Lazarus was called forth from the grave, so I have called you from the death and bondage of sin into My glorious, life-giving light. Be embraced by My love, saturated by My Spirit, and be made whole.

Beloved, I call you this day to a new place of awareness. I have touched your lips and called you to speak for Me. Like a wire that is brought to life when it is charged with electricity, so My anointing elevates your speech out of the mundane and gives power to the words that fall from your lips.

Just as I spoke creation into being at the beginning, still I continue to speak and keep existence in motion. I have called you this day that you might make My voice known to those who have trouble hearing it. I desire to speak life through you to My beloved body. I hear the cries of My people and have much that I would say to them. Will you be My voice? Will you let Me flow through you in power?

Remember, each heart that you minister to is like a dry land that is crying out for rain. Therefore, let it rain, beloved. Let the floodgates open. Hold nothing back, and let revelation fall from your lips as rain falls from the heavens. For as your words distill, so my Spirit will certainly move in power and cause new life to appear.

1 Samuel 3:19 (NKJV) So Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.

Deuteronomy 32:2 (NKJV) Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As raindrops on the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.

Jeremiah 1:9-10 (VOICE) Then the Eternal reached out and touched my mouth, and He gave me His divine message. Eternal One: Look, I have placed My words in you. You will know what to say now, for you will be My voice. This very day I appointed you to speak with My authority over nations and kingdoms. Your word — My word — will have the power to uproot and stamp out; it will destroy and upend. And then your word—My word— will rebuild and plant anew.

Beloved, be intentional to ask Me, and then be ready to receive. For I do not withhold My Spirit from My children, nor hold back My very presence when I am sought. From My abundance I pour forth, so prepare to receive.

Drink and drink deeply from the well of My love. Be satisfied – quenched, and indeed saturated to overflowing that you might be equipped to pour out when it is time. For I have anointed you, and I have called you, so allow that living stream to flow forth bringing life to those around you. Freely you have received, so freely give.

The second Prophetic Nugget is called “I AM the Sustainer.”

John 4:13-14 (VOICE) Jesus:  Drink this water, and your thirst is quenched only for a moment. You must return to this well again and again. I offer water that will become a wellspring within you that gives life throughout eternity. You will never be thirsty again.

Beloved, I AM the sustainer. I bring life, and I bring it in abundance. Only I can truly satisfy. So look to Me, and put your hope in Me. For I AM loving, and I AM good. I AM worthy of your trust. 

Rely on Me. Be sustained by Me. Resist the urge to look to substitutes, for they will not quench your thirst nor sate your hunger – only I AM able. So put your whole heart in My hands, and trust Me to be all you need.

The third Prophetic Nugget is called “Be Intentional and Consistent in Your Choice.”

John 4:15 (VOICE) Woman:  Please, Sir, give me some of this water, so I’ll never be thirsty and never again have to make the trip to this well.

Beloved, it is not enough that I make Myself available to you. It is not enough that I give you My Word as bread to sustain and the water of My Spirit to refresh. You must choose Me. You must choose the things of Me. So be intentional and consistent in your choice.

For if you desire to pour out, you must have reserves to draw from. If you move in your own strength, you will quickly find yourself depleted. But if you stand as a conduit – arms raised to receive, and then allow Me to flow through you, then and only then will you move in true power.

Beloved, you are called to be a conduit. Remember that as God pours out, you receive, and then in turn you pour out to others around you. Therefore, it is vital to bear in mind the state of your vessel. For its condition will flavor all that which you pour forth. Just as the flavor water takes when poured from glass, metal, and plastic are each different, so His flow pouring through you will take on your “flavor.”

If you are a bitter vessel, your flow will be bitter, but if your heart is right and pure, your flow will be sweet. So be intentional to yield to His loving correction that He might cleanse away any areas that would taint your flavor. 

As John 3:30 says, may we be lesser that He might be greater. We must desire to be vessels that take a backseat to His flow. It isn’t about us, but rather it’s all about Him. So as we walk in humble obedience, we will be pure vessels whose flow is sweet. 

So beloved, guard the wellspring of your heart so that when your mouth speaks from your heart’s overflow, the waters are sweet and life-giving. May your flow accurately reflect His flavor, so all those you touch might be refreshed by His love flowing through you.

Proverbs 4:23 (AMP) Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.

John 3:30 (AMP) He must increase [in prominence], but I must decrease.

Luke 6:45 (VOICE) …A person full of goodness in his heart produces good things; a person with an evil reservoir in his heart pours out evil things. The heart overflows in the words a person speaks; your words reveal what’s within your heart.

Psalm 46:4 (VOICE) A pure stream flows— never to be cut off— bringing joy to the city where God makes His home, the sacred site where the Most High chooses to live.

Beloved, as I have deposited in you, so pour forth the golden flow of My anointing. Be a vessel of My Spirit, and be obedient to My direction – not from a place of constantly fearing doing wrong, but from a yielded heart sensitive to My leading. 

As you are open to Me, My flow continually pours into you and you will never run dry. So stay open to Me, and trust Me when I say it’s time to pause – even when there are more good things to be done around you. For I know what you are capable of, and I will not give you more than you can handle as you rest in Me. 

So pour out as I pour in, beloved. Trust My leading, and yield to Me. Then watch as the golden flow of My anointing continues pouring – changing the lives of those it touches.

Revelation 22:1 (TPT) Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, flowing with water clear as crystal, continuously pouring out from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Beloved, My flow is pure. No pollution or debris mar these waters. No sin or unrighteous judgment taint the joyous love flowing from My heart, or the refreshing waters from My throne. So receive, and drink deeply that you might be quenched and renewed.

For I AM the fountain of life, and those who drink of Me will be satisfied. My life sustains. My water restores. In Me all things are made new. So look to My throne, and trust in the Lamb. The river of God is for you.
