Heir of Righteousness reminds us to choose daily to put on our breastplate of righteousness, and to do so effectively means knowing the Word. Then we can watch as our fragrant offering bears fruit and brings forth life abundantly.
- John 14:15 (VOICE) If you love Me, obey the commandments I have given you.
- Jeremiah 23:5-6 (VOICE) Watch! The days are coming when I will raise up a righteous Branch of David—an heir of his royal line—who will rule justly, act wisely and make things right again in the land. During His reign, Judah will be redeemed and Israel will be a safe place again. The name he is called will tell the story: The Eternal Is Our Righteousness!
- Isaiah 11:3-5 (TLB) His delight will be obedience to the Lord. He will not judge by appearance, false evidence, or hearsay, but will defend the poor and the exploited. He will rule against the wicked who oppress them. For he will be clothed with fairness and with truth.
- Micah 6:8 (ESV) He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
A word from Elisa Eaton of Waiting in the Wings is connected to this. It is called “Mantle of the Firstborn.”
John 5:19 (VOICE) Jesus: The truth is that the Son does nothing on His own; all these actions are led by the Father. The Son watches the Father closely and then mimics the work of the Father.
My child, you are one that faithfully follows in My footsteps. As a child who delights in mimicking the actions of their father, you have also delighted in closely watching and keeping My ways. It fills My heart with such joy to see that you love the things that I love and have matured into My image and likeness as a result. You dwell in childlike faith, trust, and innocence, so much so that you often do not see just how much of Me there is in you. In you, child, I am well pleased.
You have come to a new level, the day of your inheritance. Today, I am calling you to transition into a new role and the fullness of your anointing. Receive the mantle and blessing of the firstborn, recognizing that the Spirit imparted to you is the same that dwelled within My Messiah, My firstborn son. Just as He ministered to the newborn and babes in the faith, I call you to do the same. As you reach out to nurture the young, My Spirit will bring to remembrance the early days of your faith. The Spirit will show you how to reflect My patience and mercy. You will have the wisdom to bring correction that is balanced with the fruit of gentleness. You will teach others what I have taught you, and you will impart the same comfort that I have imparted to you. Even more, you will set many hearts aflame by sharing the same passionate love for My Word as I have shared it with you.
Firstborn children do as their parents do and their behavior is a model for the younger members of the house to follow. So it is the same in My household. While I am making you aware of the greater responsibility that now rests upon your shoulders, never forget that your Father always walks with you. Continue to hold my hand and operate in that childlike faith, trust, and innocence. Shine with the humility and a teachable heart that pleases Me so. There is no burden on you to lead or make anything happen. As you continue to abide in My Presence, an atmosphere of miracles and My glorious power will surround you and demonstrate to the world that you are my very own.
Matthew 3:17 (VOICE) Voice from Heaven: This is My Son, whom I love; this is the Apple of My eye; with Him I am well pleased.
A Prophetic Nugget from “Daily Downloads from Heaven” by Meghan Williams is connected to this. It’s called “Walk Uprightly.”
Ephesians 6:14 (AMP) So stand firm and hold your ground…having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart),
Beloved, it matters not if everyone around you compromises their integrity, you know the level to which you are called. Walk in it. Without apology or hesitation. Not because you know I AM with you and see your actions, but because you refuse to lower yourself or compromise your integrity.
Walk in uprightness. Setting the example for those around you. You won’t need to say a word, rather lead by example. Show them that walking with Me makes you different, not in a self-righteous way, but rather one of quiet humility, compassion, and righteousness.
For I AM strengthening you. What you’re called to is not impossible. And in the moments it is difficult, know that it is growing the fruit of the Spirit within you. You can do it. I AM with you and I strengthen you. Do not give the enemy a toehold. But in the moments you fall short, quickly repent and right yourself. Uprightness protects your heart, beloved, and your heart is most precious to Me. Guard it well.
The word “tsadiyq” which is Hebrew for “righteous” is written in Hebrew on the breastplate. It’s representative of Ephesians 6:14 (NKJV) “…having put on the breastplate of righteousness.” Another visual reminder in the image is the Bible, which reminds us that true righteousness is not subjective. God has very clearly laid out His expectations. It’s our choice to yield or rebel.
The color pink was highlighted and one of its meanings specifically, which is “Jesus loves me this I know.” A beautiful reminder you are surrounded by His love. Additionally, the two types of flowers have meaning. The cherry blossoms are known to symbolize the fleeting nature of life, which brings to mind James 4:14 (NLT), “How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog–it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” And the second flower is the pale pink rose, which is given as a token of admiration and appreciation. These remind us that our days are few, but our God is big – and He is worthy. May we be willing to yield to Him – surrendering our own inclinations in favor of that which pleases Him. What a beautiful, living offering!
Another Prophetic Nugget from “Daily Downloads from Heaven” by Meghan Williams is connected to this. It’s called “Sweet Aroma of Love.”
John 14:15 (NKJV) “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Beloved, the greatest obedience comes from a joyful heart, yielded in love. It isn’t trying to earn anything – not favor or salvation (as though that could be earned), but rather it is given freely, as a gift – unreservedly and with joy.
When a child is young, a good parent teaches them not to lie; and if the child does, there are consequences. But when the child becomes an adult, no longer can the parent compel them to obedience or bring punishment for transgression. But what a sweet gift is the adult’s adherence to the parent’s precept. Truly it is the sweet aroma of love, just as it is when you choose to make My ways your own, and do so joyfully.
A Prophetic Nugget from “Daily Downloads from Heaven” by Meghan Williams is connected to this. It’s called “The Ways of Righteousness {Moments with God}.”
{singing to the Lord} Take Your place in the center of my heart. I welcome You, welcome Your ways. I desire to pursue You relentlessly that I might know You intimately. Deeper and deeper into Your mysteries I pursue. Higher and higher into the things of Your Spirit. More of You, Lord. More of You. I want to know You more.
{declaring} I will walk in the fullness of the freedom You sacrificed for me to have. I will not waste it, nor treat it lightly. I refuse to take Your place on the throne of my heart. It belongs to You and You alone. I yield to You and seek to walk in the way of righteousness that my life might be pleasing to You, my beloved Lord. Have Your way in me.
Psalm 119:45 (VOICE) And I will live a life of freedom because I pursue Your precepts.
A Meditation of the Word called “The Way of Righteousness” from Elisa Eaton of Waiting in the Wings is connected to this.
John 14 stands as an important reminder for those who are followers of Yeshua (Jesus): we can show our love for our Bridegroom best by keeping His commandments. Doing so will not only stir up Christ’s love for us, but the Father will love us as well (John 14:21). From this perspective, one could say that “righteousness” is God’s love language!
And how can it not be? As we yield to the work of the Holy Spirit in our innermost being, we are giving Him permission to write God’s law upon the tablets of our hearts. We are agreeing to adopt His desires as our own and showing God that we value what He values. Each time we yield our inner desires in favor of another, we are demonstrating a small act of self-sacrifice. Doing so mirrors the love of our Bridegroom as expressed through the Cross.
To choose the way of righteousness is to allow our love for God to transform from feeling to action. We are putting our affection for Him on display by doing what is just, especially when it is hard. Our righteous acts become a sweet and powerful fragrance in the spiritual realm that touches the heart of God and the hearts of our neighbors.
John 14:21 (NKJV) He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.
Matthew 22:37-40 (VOICE) Jesus (quoting Scripture): “Love the Eternal One your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is nearly as important, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” The rest of the law, and all the teachings of the prophets, are but variations on these themes.
A final Prophetic Nugget from “Daily Downloads from Heaven” by Meghan Williams is connected to this. It’s called “Obey in Love.”
Micah 6:8 (ESV) He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Beloved, choose daily how you will live. Be known for being a person who is just and walks uprightly. Be kind and walk in humility. Refuse to be waylaid by worldly thinking, for the world’s view is in opposition to My Kingdom. So pursue righteousness. Know My Word that you might understand what true righteousness is.
Be intentional to seek righteousness moment by moment. This requires ongoing choices as situations present themselves. So choose well, and remember that seeking to walk in My ways doesn’t mean being perfect – for then you would be doomed to failure. Instead, it means choosing that which is right (by My standards), and repenting and moving forward when you fall short.
So extend grace to yourself, even as I extend grace to you. Keep your heart tender and stay yielded to My leading. Seek to know Me more each day, and do so from a heart of joy, overflowing with love as one who knows how precious they are and how much was sacrificed to set them free. Obey in love from that place.
James 4:4 (RSV) Unfaithful creatures! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
John 14:15 (VOICE) If you love Me, obey the commandments I have given you.
Praying…
Father, help us to continue to choose righteousness each day. Help us to obey from love rather than rote obedience. And though we desire to please You, help us remember we do not need to earn Your love, for it is freely and abundantly given. And for that and so much more we are eternally grateful.
