The scriptures that go with this collection (or multi-art set) are:

  • Isaiah 30:15 (CJB)For this is what Adonai Elohim, the Holy One of Isra’el, says: “Returning and resting is what will save you; calmness and confidence will make you strong —but you want none of this!
  • Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV) I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
  • Ephesians 6:13 (VOICE) And this is why you need to be head-to-toe in the full armor of God: so you can resist during these evil days and be fully prepared to hold your ground.

A Meditation of the Word called “Where Does Our Help Come From?” from Elisa Eaton of Waiting in the Wings is connected to this.

One day, I was meditating on how rest can be a powerful weapon in the spiritual realm, and Isaiah 30:15 came to mind, “For this is what Adonai Elohim, the Holy One of Isra’el, says: “Returning and resting is what will save you; calmness and confidence will make you strong —but you want none of this!” I often hear people quoting another translation of this Scripture, “in quietness and confidence is your strength.” While these words are a needed reminder, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the last part of that verse—God’s people resisted the call to return (repent) and rest.

As I dug into the context of this Scripture a bit, I was struck by what was happening—Judah is looking to Egypt for deliverance from the Assyrians. They’re not looking to God! In verse 15, God declares that through returning, resting, quietness, and confidence, Judah will be saved from their enemy. While we may be tempted to look at the story of Scripture and wonder how Judah could fail to trust God, I know I can think of plenty of times when choosing to rest and trust what God has spoken to me is far from easy.

It can be difficult to grow up in the system of the world and choose to ignore the seemingly sound wisdom that comes from it. Health experts say this. Financial advisors say that. The news anchor tells us all the things we need to worry about, and the best way to combat those worries. And we can feel crazy for going against what the world is saying (and what everyone else seems to be doing) in favor of how that still, small voice is leading.

Yet when the rubber meets the road, can we remember where our help truly comes from? Now don’t get me wrong. God can and will speak timely wisdom through a health expert, financial advisor, or a news anchor. But there are times we will hear the voice of the LORD giving us clear direction. He’ll speak a promise, send confirmation, and the Holy Spirit will bear witness with that word.

As our faithful covenant partner, God is there to hold up His end of the covenant by providing salvation when we need it. However, our part in the covenant is to trust in His Word and His infallible character. It isn’t easy. Doubt and fears will arise. Yet there’s no better way to show our love for God than to make our best effort to trust Him.

Isaiah 30:15 (CJB)For this is what Adonai Elohim, the Holy One of Isra’el, says: “Returning and resting is what will save you; calmness and confidence will make you strong —but you want none of this!

Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV) I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

A Word called “The Weapon of Rest” from Elisa Eaton of Waiting in the Wings is connected to this.

Beloved, the weapons of war I have given you are mighty and unlike anything of this world. I call you this day to take another look in your arsenal for a weapon that is often overlooked and undervalued—the weapon of rest. Yes, there are times when you need to exercise your faith in an active, forceful manner. However, there are some wars that can only be won through quietness and confidence, the times when I call you to simply rest and trust in My Word.

When you war through rest, you are not being inactive or lazy. On the contrary—you are resisting the urge to rely upon your own strength and cunning and, instead, choosing to align and stand firm upon what I have spoken to you. You trust that I will do exactly as I have promised and will take action on your behalf. And your decision to trust in My Word is powerful in the spirit realm.

When you are facing trials and have done all that I have asked you to do, allow time and space for Me to do My part. Though words and thoughts of opposition will try to come against My Word, war against them by choosing to hold fast. Bring to mind what I have spoken to you when doubts arise. Allow your actions (or choice not to take action) to be a sign in the Spirit of your agreement with My Word. I am faithful and true. I will hold fast to My covenant with you.

Isaiah 30:15 (CJB)For this is what Adonai Elohim, the Holy One of Isra’el, says: “Returning and resting is what will save you; calmness and confidence will make you strong —but you want none of this!

Ephesians 6:13 (VOICE) And this is why you need to be head-to-toe in the full armor of God: so you can resist during these evil days and be fully prepared to hold your ground.

A prophetic download from Elisa Eaton is connected to this. It’s called “Worth Fighting For.

{hearing} I will move heaven and earth for you.

You may be battle-weary, beloved, and that’s because it’s time to rest. You’ve done your part, now it’s time for Papa God to do His! As you rest, the Father wants you to focus on His great love for you. There isn’t anything He wouldn’t do for you! Keep His love at the forefront of your mind when doubts arise. You may question whether God is for you or whether you are worth fighting for. But love always protects, and love never fails.

Make space for the Father to act on your behalf by resting and standing firm upon His Word. While we cannot mandate how God will move to fill His covenant promises to us, we can trust that He is true to His Word. He is for us and will not abandon us.

The lyrics to Lauren Daigle’s song “Rescue” is connected to this. The song reminds us that, in our time of need, we are not forgotten or hidden from our Father’s sight. In fact, He sees all, knows all—hears even the groans of our spirit or the weary, whispered prayers. There isn’t any length He won’t go to send help in our hour of need.

A Word called “Surrender Out of Love, Not Fear” from Elisa Eaton of Waiting in the Wings is connected to this.

1 John 4:18 (TPT) Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection.

Beloved, I would much rather you be moved to surrender out of your love for Me than by the fear. You are safe with Me, and I never ask you to do anything that will not be of benefit to you. Yes, sometimes what I ask of you may be hard, and yes, I may stretch you. But I am not here to force My will upon you or arrogantly flaunt My power—love never demands or seeks its own way. Instead, I am seeking your humble agreement, alignment, and trust in My perfect will.

When fear tempts you to question My will and question My motives, simply pause and remind yourself of who I am. Understand that I am your leader, your head, and sovereign over all things. Remember that you are the apple of My eye and that all I do is done out of My great love towards you. While I will not always provide an explanation for the direction I am leading you, know that you can trust Me to always have your best interests at heart.

Yet also be aware that your submission to Me in every matter is a powerful force. Through submission you communicate that you understand who I am and do not doubt My character or intentions towards you. You communicate to Me that you believe I am faithful. You demonstrate humility and give Me honor through your willingness to seek My desires above your own. Ultimately, you are communicating that you trust Me, and to trust Me demonstrates that you love Me. This is the very foundation of faith.

In the midst of surrender, when you walk in this level of faith, fear, distrust, or any other device of the evil one will fail to find a place in your life. Peace like a river will overtake you as you remember that you rest in the palm of My hand. Each time that you give Me your “yes” it is a powerful weapon in the spiritual realm. By submitting to Me, you are choosing to rest in My love, and you are affirming My Kingdom rule and power in your life. Rejoice, beloved, knowing that surrender is sweet! For surrender is always an opportunity for love to have its way.
