Sustained by Him reminds us what we get from God depends upon our level of desire or demand (taste) for Him. In the same way a mother produces milk dependent upon the “demand” from the baby’s thirst, likewise God happily feeds us as much as we are willing to take the time to draw. He desires to nourish us in all areas of life, but we must remember to feast on Him and on His word, and to be intentional about doing so. Though this may seem like the simplest part of our faith, it is essential – providing a firm foundation for everything else the Father would do in and through us.

  • 1 Peter 2:2-3 (AMP) like newborn babies [you should] long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may be nurtured and grow in respect to salvation [its ultimate fulfillment], if in fact you have [already] tasted the goodness and gracious kindness of the Lord.
  • Psalm 119:15-16 (AMPC) I will meditate on Your precepts and have respect to Your ways [the paths of life marked out by Your law]. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
  • Hebrews 1:3 (VOICE) This is the One who—imprinted with God’s image, shimmering with His glory—sustains all that exists through the power of His word. He was seated at the right hand of God once He Himself had made the offering that purified us from all our sins.
  • Jeremiah 15:16 (VOICE) When I discovered Your words, I ate them up: they were my great joy and my heart’s delight. I am Yours, and I bear the name of the Eternal God, Commander of heavenly armies.

Horses are well-known for their strength and speed (hence the term “horsepower”). For thousands of years, horses were the appointed carriers of warriors and soldiers and the force behind the chariots that rode into war. However, these beautiful and powerful creatures are also amongst the gentlest of God’s creations. Horses are grazing animals, and they will spend more time eating than any other activity.

Just like horses, we should strive to let our day be filled with consuming and meditating on God’s Word. His Word is a rich source of nourishment that empowers our souls. There is no substitute that can ensure we will grow into healthy and strong sons and daughters of God.

A Word to Ponder by Sandy Warner of the Quickened Word is connected to this. It is called “Knocking on Your Door, Will You Sup with Me?“.

I long to sit with You, My friend! You have things to share and I have things to share, as we linger in each other’s presence and simply be together. Where love abides, I AM there. And when two of you are gathered together in My Name, I AM there sitting with you. See Me with the eyes of your heart and allow My longings over you, to become your longings for Me. You have been asking Me, “What is Your will?” My food is to do the will of our Father and I want to show you what that is. I AM knocking on the door of your heart, will you sup with Me?

Revelation 3:19 NKJV Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

A Prophetic Nugget from our Dyed4you Ministries blog is connected to this.  It is called “I AM the Richest of Fare.”

Psalm 37:3 (TPT) Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in His eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God and you will be secure, Feasting on His faithfulness.

Beloved, feast on Me and on My goodness for I AM the richest of fare. Delight yourself in Me. Know My heart that you might act rightly and do that which is pleasing to Me. Trust Me and lean on Me, knowing I will not let you down for I AM faithful.

My promises are yes and amen. See them as done, beloved, for the moment they leave My mouth they are as good as such. Let the surety of them anchor you and provide stability as the enemy seeks to agitate and distract you. I AM faithful. I AM true. I watch over My word to perform it. Trust in Me.

A Word to Ponder by Sandy Warner of the Quickened Word is connected to this. It is called “Draw Upon the LORD“.

You are in a season where I AM leading you to draw upon Me; just as you would draw liquid from a straw. Breathe in deeply and receive My Presence. Let My Spirit fill you. Draw yourself into My deeper things. How? Draw upon ME. When you need refreshing, when you need understanding, when you need wisdom, when you need provision, DRAW. Call out to Me or call it forth! Just like priming a pump connected to a deep well. Pump, pump, draw, draw and siphon the resources that you need up, Up UP.

When Israel wandered the desert I could have prepared everything they needed ahead of time. They could have moved from oasis to oasis resorts. But instead they moved from need to need. When they called upon Me, I performed the miracle they needed. I did this so they would learn to trust Me, and know Who I AM. I did this so they would learn they could not accomplish their goal without Me. Will you be My people who draw upon Me for you all? I AM ready and willing to provide exactly what you ask for to accomplish what I have asked of you.

Deuteronomy 32:10-13 He found him in a desert land, and in the wasteland of the howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirs up its nest, flutters over its young, spreads abroad its wings, takes them, bears them on its wings: So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

A Prophetic Nugget from our Dyed4you Ministries blog is connected to this.  It’s called “Meditate on My Word.”

Psalm 119:18 (TPT) Open my eyes to see the miracle-wonders hidden in your word.

Beloved, ask Me to open your eyes to the glory of who I AM. Ask Me to bring deep revelation through My word. Desire to see and know. Crave to hear and understand. Then taste and see the beauty of all I AM.

If you would know Me, meditate on My word, beloved. My heart and My ways are embedded on each page. Pursue Me. Allow My heart as revealed through My word to change and mold you, making you more like Me.

Another Prophetic Nugget from our Dyed4you Ministries blog is connected to this.  It is called “Develop a Taste for Me.”

1 John 2:15 (TLB) Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love these things you show that you do not really love God;

Beloved, don’t be taken in by the bright lights and sparkle of this world. It is all flash and glamour – an illusion, a spell intended to deceive you and make you believe there is something of substance there, of value, but there is not. Like trying to sustain life eating cotton candy, there is no true value there and it loses its appeal quickly in the face of true need.

You can develop a taste for anything. And doing so will mold your preferences. If you develop a taste for the things of this world, it is what you will crave. You may have even been raised to crave this world, but your tastes can change and you can change them intentionally.

My Word and My Kingdom were meant to sustain. They have true substance. I AM what your soul needs to be satisfied; anything else is just filler and an ineffective substitute. Develop a taste for Me.

There’s a saying, “Always remember to keep the main thing, the main thing.” There are always higher and higher levels of God, but in seeking those, we must be mindful to never forsake the foundations of what got us there. We are right to be intentional about spending time with Him and in His Word. No matter where God takes us in life, there is a call to never forsake the foundations of our walk with Him. It is right that we remain intentional with the simplest aspects of our walk with God.

One final Prophetic Nugget from our Dyed4you Ministries blog is connected to this. It’s called “Keep My Precepts Forever Before You.”

Psalm 119:141 (VOICE) I may be insignificant to some and hated by others, but at least I do not forget Your precepts.

Beloved, never lose sight of the basics – the foundation of your faith. It is not a simple thing to allow My word to truly be your anchor. It takes dedication and focus over time – keeping the main thing the main thing.  Focus, beloved. Be intentional and make the time.

The gifts of My Spirit are an outpouring of relationship with Me, and knowing Me through My word is foundational in that process. In the fun and excitement, don’t lose sight of the essentials. Keep My precepts forever before you. Meditate on them day and night. Seek Me in My word, for when you seek Me there, surely you will find Me.

Jeremiah 15:16 (TLB) Your words are what sustain me; they are food to my hungry soul. They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me. How proud I am to bear your name, O Lord.

The name of the silk hidden in this image is Delight in the Lord. The colors in it are fuchsia representing passion and joy, pale yellow representing discernment and Spirit of understanding, soft gold representing light of His glory, and amethyst representing taste and see.

Father, may we never lose sight of the foundation of our faith – of your word and our need to feed on it just as we nourish our own bodies. May we feast on You and on every word from You (whether it be rhema or logos). Thank You for sustaining us, giving us life, and so richly feeding us.
