Selah (Divine Interlude) represents a holy pause – whether initiated by God or you, the result is the same: a moment or season carved out for rest and reflection. It’s a time  for meditation and of refreshing in the presence of the Lord. These times of rest are vital to our wellbeing and ultimately bring forth joy.

  • Psalms 46:10a (TPT) “Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God.”
  • Isaiah 40:31 (JUB) but those that wait for the LORD shall have new strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
  • Psalm 16:11 (TPT) For you bring me a continual revelation of resurrection life, the path to the bliss that brings me face-to-face with you.

The word “selah” is a Hebrew word (H5542) which according to Blue Letter Bible is “a technical musical term probably showing accentuation, pause, interruption.” Strongs’ defines it as “suspension (of music), i.e. pause.” Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon goes on to share that it is in essence an “interlude.” One of Merriam-Webster’s definitions of “interlude” is “an intervening or interruptive period, space, or event : interval.”

Additionally, bubbles have been known to represent relaxation and peace as well as silence. Their reflective surface also symbolizes a time of reflection – looking at something again from a new perspective. They’re also childlike – there’s a certain freedom in them. They are also temporary and move with the wind – a beautiful reminder for us to be present in each moment God has for us and to fully yield to His Spirit.

A Word called “Just Be” from Elisa Eaton of Waiting in the Wings is connected to this.

Just be, beloved. There is a time and season for all things—time to learn, to do, and to explore in life. However, in every moment, no matter what activity it contains, I call you to simply be. Breathe, live, and move in Me, beloved. Pause to recognize how My Spirit fills you and gives life and purpose.

In the midst of the chaos of life, it can be easy to lose sight of your connection and existence in Me. Therefore, I desire that you would make space in your days and weeks to simply pause and recognize that I Am always with you. When you come into a place of stillness in your being, you make room for My Presence to fill that space. Anxiety, doubt, and other things that grieve your soul can be replaced with Me, the Eternal One. Indeed, I Am your anchor point. I Am present in every moment, ready to empower and keep you through all things.

Whether you take a moment, a day, or a season to pause before Me, you can be certain that that time is never wasted. Such times of rest encourage your internal focus to shift back towards Me. I Am able to refresh your soul, renew your vision, and give you spiritual fuel to continue your life’s journey.

Remember, beloved, that by My very name, I AM, I define what it means to exist. While I give you purpose to with run with and ideas to pursue, I never want you to lose sight of the fact that I first and foremost created you to simply be. Therefore, release the yoke of heavy burdens. Recognize and comprehend what it means to have your existence within Me. Make room in time and space for Me and watch as My Presence comes to fill all things.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT) For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

Psalms 46:10a (TPT) “Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God.”

Acts 17:28 (VOICE) For you know the saying, “We live in God; we move in God; we exist in God.” And still another said, “We are indeed God’s children.”

A testimony from Becky Eddy is connected to this.

The extreme dance type pose in this image speaks of extreme joy and her heart of devotion. Also bubbles are an announcement of delight and an invitation to explore a moment of child likeness. Recently I was at a gathering of thousands of people when a tractor came rolling down the road trailing a stream of iridescent bubbles! The drawing to, awe and attention of the free-floating bubbles captured the attention of so many- they turned to see the mass of bubbles floating from the tractor. Big grins broke out all around and some of the grown adults jumped and chased the bubbles! In a moment of seeing the bubbles cascading everywhere, the adults became children – like the bubbles became an irresistible invitation into childlikeness.

This crowd was 35,000 strong and they had been bicycling across Iowa in the great annual bike ride. It is a week long venture that tests one’s strength, endurance, adaptability where they ride their bikes up and down rollercoaster hills of the Iowa landscape, oftentimes under the blazing sun and stifling humidity. The ride is like life – somedays the weather is perfect and fabulous and makes you glad to be alive and in the mix; other days it is a huge challenge to make it up the next hill and negotiate the rain or extreme heat. The bicyclists were taking an oasis break at a fun filled stop along their route for this day. When the bubbles began to flow, miles and days of riding, sleeping on the ground and many a sore muscle and tired bodies were transformed to people leaping, smiling, chasing bubbles! The oasis stop was a shady and restful place to take a break from the ride. It was full of food, games, music, fun activities like the tractor spewing bubbles. The tractor was then hooked up to the crazy bathtub train ride. Tired bicyclists took turns relaxing in the wide array of decorated bathtubs, enjoying a silly ride amongst the flood of bubbles and fun.

Sometimes we need the oasis as we travel through our daily lives. Sometimes the unexpected delight of light-hearted bubbles is just the invitation we need to leave the hard ride behind and follow the trail to rest. During that rest, our eyes switch from the view and concerns of the road to the coolness of the shade, the simple fun and refreshing of childlike amazement and fun.

Psalms 46:10a (TPT) “Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God.”

My Pastor asked us to join him while he prayed this scripture on Sunday. This morning while laying and reflecting on Psalm 46:10 I could hear Papa say, I AM with you. I care.

At times we could feel like we’re all alone in what we’re GrOwing through. He comes to remind us we are not alone. He is with us and He does care. He has not asked us to try to figure it out on our own. He is our very present help. He is with us in the storm. He is with us in midst of the battle and He is fighting for us.

A prophetic download from Annette Fleenor is connected to this. It’s called “Still Yourself.”

Indeed, Be Still and know that I AM GOD!  How do you be still in this world of constant chatter and noise?  This world has many things to attract your attention. Psalm 16:11 (TPT) For you bring me a continual revelation of resurrection life, the path to the bliss that brings me face-to-face with you.

Beloved, meditate on Me. As you press in for more, I AM faithful to bring revelation. For it is My heart’s desire that you might increase your understanding of the things of Me and My Kingdom. I want you to know – fully and experientially know – My life-giving love, that My resurrection power might infiltrate all areas of your life and be manifest for My glory.

So press in, beloved. Refuse to settle for less. Be like Moses – desire to see Me face-to-face, and watch as My presence changes your very countenance that others may see and know that you know Me. Find joy in My presence and be made whole.

The lyrics to “Our Breath Back (Spontaneous Worship)” and “Breathe Back in Our Lungs (Spontaneous)” by Bethel Music is connected to this. “Our Breath Back” and “Breathe Back in Our Lungs, both remind us when we feel as though the wind has been knocked out of us, the refreshing wind of His Spirit is always present and always willing to resuscitate us. He is breathing the Ruach back into our lungs and giving us our breath back.

{Vision} Person laying on their back on the ground. God kneels down and begins to administer mouth to mouth.

{Hearing} I AM breathing fresh breath into your lungs. I AM resuscitating you and bringing forth new life and fresh revelation. Pause. Breathe. Meditate.

A Prophetic Nugget from “Daily Downloads from Heaven” by Meghan Williams is connected to this. It’s called “Choose to Pause (Selah).”

Psalm 46:10 (VOICE) “Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. I am honored among all the nations. I am honored over all the earth.”

Beloved, be still. Choose to pause. Selah. Rest in My presence. Give yourself time to process, time to listen, time to reflect. I AM with you. If you wait on Me, I will meet you in the stillness.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Remember My Spirit is breath and I gave you life. Feel Me with you as you receive that life-giving ruach (breath/wind/Spirit). I AM with you. I sustain your life. I AM the true God.

Be calm. Surrender any fear, anxiety, or worry. Breathe in My peace. Breathe out and release your cares. Cast them on Me, and trust yourself in My hands. For I AM honored among the nations and worthy of all praise. I AM God.
