Strong in the Lord
December 2009 | Meghan Williams
Strong in the Lord depicts what happens in the spiritual realm around each one of us.
Ephesians 6:10-12, “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
Here we see our everyday man equipped with his sword (representing the armor in Ephesians 6). His eyes are fixed on the cross – not daunted by the battle before him. The enemy is asserting himself while angelic hosts come to battle on the man’s behalf.
Just to his right is the scarf in this image which is called is Breakthrough. The colors in it are:
- Earthy red representing apple of His eye
- Amber representing the Father’s heavenly care
- Mahogany brown representing depth of God’s love
- White representing triumph
Just beyond the breakthrough is a rainbow signifying the promises of God, and an open heaven lies beyond.
Lord, help us to remember to keep our eyes stayed on You, to cloth ourselves in the armor You’ve given, to be strong in You, and to remember the battle is raging in the unseen realm rather than the visible. Thank You for the promised victory!
