No Other Gods depicts the uncompromising gaze of the Lion of Judah amidst the glory of the Lord.

  • Exodus 34:14 (ESV) …you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God
  • 1 Peter 1:15-16 (VOICE) Be like obedient children as you put aside the desires you used to pursue when you didn’t know better. Since the One who called you is holy, be holy in all you do. For the Scripture says, “You are to be holy, for I am holy.”

He is holy and we are called to sanctify ourselves and be holy (Leviticus 20:7) so that we might be more like Him.  Some may feel that He is cruel or demanding to hold such a firm line – allowing no other gods but Him. But in truth, He does it for OUR benefit more than His.  As we put things above Him (making them gods), we open ourselves up to the torment of the enemy and the bondage of sin. His uncompromising call is one of love and freedom.

{vision} A door that leads into the heart of God. That one door brings the seeker to another door and another door. The doors available are limitless. Passing through each door brings one deeper and deeper into the heart of God.

{hearing} There are many doors and many ways I have given you into the secret place. Those ways are My laws and My statutes.

Drawing into deeper intimacy with God is a continual choice. That intimacy happens through His Word—not simply read but lived out. Daily, we are given opportunities to walk God’s Word out in our lives. As we are confronted with different choices, we can either choose to walk according to the flesh or according to the Spirit. Yet when we can properly view God’s laws and statues and seek the Spirit’s application of His Word in each situation we face, His instructions are no longer a burden. We come to realize that, with every choice, our Father is teaching us how to love as He loves. Through His Word we learn how to love Him, love ourselves, and love our neighbors—even and especially when the choice to love is hard. Yet each opportunity is a door that allows us to step deeper into God’s heart. With each step we are agreeing that there is only one God, one image we wish to reflect in the earth.

A Prophetic Nugget from our Dyed4you Ministries blog is connected to this. It’s called “Train Your Gaze on Me.”

Exodus 23:13 (VOICE) Be careful to do all that I have instructed you. Do not even acknowledge the names of other gods or let their names spill from your lips.

Beloved, refuse to acknowledge the enemy by giving him credit in your life. I AM your God and I will not share with another. Resist the urge to point at his opposition and use it as a barometer for your walk saying, “I know I am doing something right because he is opposing me.” The enemy will always oppose you because I love you. He will always lay traps to ensnare you because you are precious to me.

Look to Me, beloved, and keep your eyes fixed. Trust that I will guide you with My eye. Train your gaze upon Me never allowing it to waver. I AM the Lord your God. I AM the faithful God. Keeping My promises from generation to generation. My promise you have. My love you have. My acceptance you have. I AM all you need.

Psalm 32:8 (NKJV) I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

Deuteronomy 7:9 (NLT) Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.

Another Prophetic Nugget from our Dyed4you Ministries blog is connected to this. It’s called “The Only True God.

Deuteronomy 7:9 (VOICE) I want you to know that the Eternal your God is the only true God. He’s the faithful God who keeps His covenants and shows loyal love for a thousand generations to those who in return love Him and keep His commands.

Beloved, will you be faithful? Will you write My Word upon your heart and act from its overflow? Will you choose to love sacrificially for Me? Will you put keeping My commands above the opinions of man and your own flawed judgment? I AM righteous. I AM holy. I AM worthy of your unbridled devotion. So choose Me. I AM your God.

I AM faithful and I AM true. I remember My promises and act upon them with perfect accuracy. I remember My faithful ones long after they have left the earth, and repay their faithfulness from generation to generation. I AM a good God. I AM the only true God, and I AM yours. Be intentional in your devotion to Me.

Another Prophetic Nugget from Meghan Williams of Dyed4you Ministries is connected to this. It’s called “Fiercely Jealous Lover.”

James 4:5 (MSG) The proverb has it that “he’s a fiercely jealous lover.” And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you’ll find.

Beloved, I AM a fiercely jealous lover, and I will not share the heart of My beloved, for you are Mine. I AM worthy of affection and worthy of the best that you can give. I know you intimately and cherish every corner of your precious heart.

I AM worth the cost. I AM worth laying down the substitutes and idols that leave you empty anyway. Nothing is of more value than relationship with Me. My arms are open and My grip is firm, narrow your focus to simply Me. I AM more than enough. I AM all you need.

James 4:4-6 (MSG) You’re cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn’t care? The proverb has it that “he’s a fiercely jealous lover.” And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you’ll find. It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.”

A final Prophetic Nugget from Meghan Williams of Dyed4you Ministries is connected to this. It’s called “Jealous God (El Qanna).”

Exodus 34:14 (VOICE) because you must not worship any god except for Me. My name is Jealous, and I am a jealous God.

Beloved, I do not compromise and I will not share. You are Mine, and your fidelity – your steadfast devotion to Me and Me alone – is of the utmost importance to Me. I AM the Lord your God. I will not share you with another.

To one who loves Me this fierce possession feels like the most ardent embrace. It is not burdensome or overwhelming. In the same way a husband demands purity and constancy from his wife, and a wife who adores her husband freely gives this burdenless commitment, so those who are passionate about Me will not hesitate to remain steadfast and singleminded in their love for Me. It is their joy to give so priceless a gift to One whom they adore.

But to those who claim devotion but who are burdened by My just claim to their heart, they must reevaluate to see if they truly have given it to Me. As I have said, I wish that you were hot or cold, but the lukewarm I will spew out of My mouth. So check your heart, beloved. Choose one side or the other. And if you’ve chosen Mine, embrace the fullness of My jealous love, for I AM El Qanna, the Jealous God.

A Meditation of the Word called “To Love and Fear God” from Elisa Eaton of Waiting in the Wings is connected to this.

Deuteronomy 10:12 (VOICE) And now, Israel, what is the Eternal your God asking of you? Only that you fear Him, live as He wants you to, and love Him; serve Him with every part of you, heart and soul;

For much of my faith journey, I have struggled to understand how a believer can both fear and love God. It always seemed that fear and love were an antithesis to one another. Through many preachers I had been told that God had the right to wipe me from existence for any one of my sins. How could I love and get close to someone who had the power to take my life?

Yet God’s sovereignty is multi-dimensional. He has supreme authority over all of existence, and that means He has as much power to command life as He does to command death. As Judge and King, He sets the rules for what is permissible and what is not permissible. And like the laws of physics, the firmness and truth of His existence and His commandments are not dependent upon our acknowledgement of them. YHVH our God has been, is, and ever will be. We can’t help but have reverential fear for God when we are able to grasp the breadth of His sovereignty.

However, our love for God can also be found as we acknowledge who He is in both character and power. He has a deep understanding of the forces of existence; therefore, He knows which forces bring about life and which ones bring about death. As His children and His heirs, He hasn’t brought us into being only to abandon us to the chaos of creation. He is a Father who has loved us enough to give us His instructions—His Word. That Word is our guide, meant to show us how to remain in God’s light where we will always have access to life.

Our Father and King, calls us to follow Him and walk in the Light. And yet, if we are to follow Him, we must do so with fear and respect for who He is and the authority that He holds. We are to acknowledge God just as we acknowledge our earthly authorities—our parents, teachers, pastors, police officers, military, and so on. We fear these authorities because they have the power to discipline us when we are out of line.  And yet, we also love them because they provide for and protect us—our livelihood, future, and safety rest in their hands. How much more ought we both love and fear God, our ultimate Father, Teacher, Judge and King?

Father, we choose to relentlessly pursue You. We choose to sanctify ourselves and be holy, and we believe we will be overwhelmingly blessed by the divine wisdom You impart to us as our eyes stay fixed on You. Our call is not one of compromise, but of relentless pursuit of righteousness. We choose You as our God, for You are faithful.
